What you'll be doing:

We have a exciting opportunity for a People Officer to join our team at North Middlesex Hospital to provide a HR support service for all service managers across the hospital site.

To successfully implement, track and continuously improve Compass Group people management processes and policies to ensure a consistently high performing workforce with attendance levels at or better than industry benchmarks.

There is also a requirement to work closely with the relevant Compass Group HRBP's to oversee Compass initiatives and participate in Compass activity when required.

We are looking for our next People Officer to be enthusiastic, Self-motivated, open-minded and a good communicator with a positive, can do attitude, approachable, a team player who can work independently who is resilient and is people centric, with an ability to build excellent relationships. 

More about the role:

1. Responsible for the effective and efficient application of people management processes and policies (including attendance, conduct and performance) within designated operational area.
2. Conduct with and advise management on HR Issues, investigating HR related problems and making recommendations.
3. Assist with basic HR duties including, the ability to conduct investigations and hearings, for attendance disciplinary and grievance meetings when required.
4. Ensuring all elements of daily HR administration are carried out (including adhoc HR administrative requirements)
5. Support Contract Director to produce weekly and monthly reports, to provide a holistic view of people performance on the contract
6. Ensure documents, trackers, relating to ER casework are maintained and kept up to date.
7. Oversee Occupational Health Referral process.
8. Organise and manage all aspects of the family-friendly processes including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental and flexible working, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and Heads of Department are kept fully up to date.
9. Support with recruitment and selection on site.
10. Support with the delivery of training/inductions where necessary.

Who you are:

Knowledge and Skills
• Some generalist HR Experience / interest.
• Basic understanding/evidence of Employee Relations case management (policy, process and procedures).
• Evidence of conducting Disciplinary, Grievances and Attendance investigations and hearings.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Able to build and develop effective working relationships across all levels
• Good analytical and decision-making skills
• Resilient under pressure with a firm but empathetic style
• Able to challenge and provide advice and guidance.

Education and Qualifications
• Desirable - Degree level qualification or relevant people management experience.
• Desirable - HR Qualification qualification or working towards CIPD.
• Required - PC Literate

Experience
• Experience of working with a fast moving, people intensive operational environment.
• Some exposure to managing people issues (desirable - including working with Trade Union representatives).
• Familiar with Health and Safety Regulations such as COSHH, CQC etc.
• Working knowledge of Compass Group people management policies (desirable)
• Experience of delivering mandatory training (desirable)
• Experience in Healthcare environment (desirable)

Personal
• Must be flexible to meet the needs of the business.
• Able to travel occasionally for meetings/courses etc.
