Overall Purpose of the Role

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the development and delivery of the Chartwells Universities & Colleges Proposition.  The primary purpose is to drive profitable revenue growth through participation and MAP2 growth whilst supporting sales and retention pipeline.

 

The core purpose will be delivered through the development and execution of robust and measurable activation plans that drive sales, ATV and profit growth through focussing on the biggest opportunities / categories such as lunch, hot beverages and food to go by driving meal participation, spend and frequency across Chartwells Universities & Colleges via apps, kiosks and tills. 

 

The Marketing Manager will seek input, engagement and support from key stakeholders to ensure that the full potential of all activity is realised providing regular communication as to priorities and work in progress.  All activity will be underpinned by insight both market and internal as well as supporting internal business protocols and objectives.

More about the role:

  • Creation and communication of the annual marketing plan for colleges and universities developed through working collaboratively with key stakeholders within the business
  • Responsible for creation of engaging promotional marketing materials that will drive consumer awareness of products through 3rd party design agencies and in-house design tools within a set timeframe and budget
  • Responsible for the end to end management of 3rd party design agencies for all outsourced creative work
  • Responsible for the creation of operational briefing documents to support the in-unit delivery of new offers and campaign
  • Creating marketing asset templates via Canva to support the bolt on activity detailed within the marketing plan for both digital and print
  • Responsible for building the annual budget based upon the contents of the marketing plan with sign off provided by the Marketing & Finance Directors
  • Responsible for securing supplier sponsorship to fund the activities within the marketing calendar
  • Approval of MAP2 promotional business cases provided by the Foodbuy MAP2 team to support an exciting range of retail promotions to drive growth of this category

Food Development

  • Responsible for determining the Annual Food Development Plan through working closely with the Exec Development Chef using consumer insight to bring fresh ideas and innovation meeting consumer needs to support revenue growth

 

Insight

  • Responsible for gathering marketplace, consumer and operator insight used to develop the marketing plan and food offer to ensure our offer is built upon insight
  • Responsible for the creation of the University & Colleges annual surveys to gather consumer insight to develop the marketing and offer plan
  • Responsible for the creation of consumer awareness point of sale to raise awareness of the annual consumer surveys for both Universities and Colleges
  • Responsible for the creation of operator briefings for the University & Colleges annual surveys to enable sites to implement effectively and secure as many responses as possible
  • Responsible for the creation of an overarching report detailing the findings from the annual University & Colleges survey and provision of site level data to allow sites to dig deeper into their own consumer base

 

Brand Standards

  • Ensuring brand standards are maintained for all Chartwells brand; Chartwells universities, Chartwells Colleges, Uni Food Hub, Feastival, Hola Pollo, Bamboo, The Classics, Beseha, Liberty Grill
  • Ensuring where new templates are created that they are consistent to brand guidelines whether that be in-house development or through 3rd party agencies
  • Approving visual designs of outlets and other branded items which may be used across universities and colleges e.g. as part of sales bids and mobilisations
  • Supporting the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’S) to support teams in creating welcoming spaces for our customers which are optimised for sales including merchandising materials

 

Uni Food Hub & Kiosks

  • Updating and optimising the information displayed on the Real Life Tech side of the Uni Food Hub with the latest supplier funded content, promotions, meal deals and health and wellbeing information
  • Supporting the development of the Uni Food Hub and Time2Eat app through provision of feedback to the digital team gathered through the team and our customers
  • Management of and review of the upload of new menus or edits to existing menus on the Uni Food Hub/Time2Eat app/kiosks through creation of the menu upload document

 

Student Engagement & Community Marketing Managers

 

  • Supporting the Student Engagement Manager Community to develop their marketing skills and knowledge through team training sessions and provision of support and advice via weekly team calls
  • Briefing the Student Engagement Manager Community on marketing campaigns which should be implemented as part of the Marketing Plan
  • Management of the Senior Student Engagement & Marketing Manager to  support with the delivery of key projects such as Freshers

 

Franchises

  • Amendment of assets for Tortilla campaigns and print of artwork to support national campaigns
  • Creation and collation of Quarterly Business Review packs for both colleges and universities gathering information from various stakeholders
  • Sharing of content across LinkedIn to promote Chartwells Universities as thought leaders
  • Working with the sales team to support them with content for bid submissions such as marketing plans and the latest innovation within sector
  • Supporting with sales presentations as a presenter and organisation of any required POS
  • Organisation of photoshoots to support the MAP2 calendar and app/kiosk photography
  • Production of photoshoot briefings to support the photographer and those working on the shoot to ensure the images produced meet brand standards and are for use across a range of point-of-sale dimensions and templates
