About the Role

As Site Head Chef, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the catering operation across the site. You'll work closely with your team to ensure food quality, service standards, compliance, and customer satisfaction remain consistently high.

The role offers variety, with responsibility for both daily catering services and occasional functions and events, where additional overtime is available.

  • Inspire, coach and develop a team of chefs, kitchen assistants, and apprentice chefs

  • Maintain excellent Food Safety, Health & Safety, and compliance standards
  • Ensure kitchens remain clean, organised, and audit-ready
  • Build positive relationships with site stakeholders and customers
  • Lead by example with a hands-on and positive approach

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef, Chef Manager, or similar leadership role
  • Strong people management and team development skills
  • Experience working within a busy catering, hospitality, defence, education, healthcare, or contract catering environment
  • Good understanding of food safety legislation and HACCP procedures
  • Experience managing stock, budgets, and food costs
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A passion for delivering quality food and developing others
  • A positive, adaptable, and proactive approach to leadership

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2, NVQ Level 3 Professional Cookery, or equivalent culinary qualification

Why Join Us?

  • £36,000 per annum
  • 40-hour contract
  • Overtime opportunities available through functions and events
  • Stable, long-term contract catering environment
  • Opportunity to lead and shape a well-established kitchen team
  • Support the development of Apprentice Chefs and future culinary talent
  • Access to ongoing training and career development opportunities
  • A role offering responsibility, autonomy, and the chance to make a real impact on site
